Android helper that fetches original APKs for Morphe Manager from multiple APK sources and hands them back via Morphe's intent contract.

What it does

Morphe Manager patches Android apps but needs the original APK before it can work. This unofficial helper app answers Morphe's app.morphe.manager.action.DOWNLOAD_ORIGINAL_APK intent, resolves the requested package and version from several APK sources, and returns a readable content:// URI. It is not affiliated with the Morphe project.

The helper supports APK, APKM, APKS and XAPK, checks that the downloaded package and version match the request, and never installs anything itself. Sources include a direct APKPure path when Morphe sends a numeric versionCode, Morphe's resolver API, the patch bundle's fallback URL, APKMirror, APKPure, F-Droid, Aptoide, and GitHub releases as the last resort. A WebView fallback opens Uptodown or APKPure pages when a site requires a browser check.

Getting started

  1. Download the universal APK from the Releases page. The app targets Android 6.0+ and one APK works across ABIs.
  2. Sideload it, or build and install from source:
./gradlew :app:assembleDebug
adb install -r app/build/outputs/apk/debug/app-debug.apk

Building requires JDK 21, Android SDK Platform 35 and a configured sdk.dir or ANDROID_HOME; the Gradle wrapper handles Gradle 8.9. On Windows use .\gradlew.bat. 3. Open Morphe → Settings → APK download helper, trust Morphe Download Helper, then choose Use a helper app when patching.

The illustrated setup guide walks through enabling the helper and optionally making Morphe open it automatically. Downloads are saved to Downloads/Morphe Helper by default on Android 10+, and the folder, retention and source order are configurable in Settings.

Constraints

The helper only works when a supported source has the requested APK. It does not bypass paid apps, license checks, account restrictions or DRM, and automatic downloads may conflict with the APK sites' terms of service.

APKMirror, APKPure and Aptoide can change their HTML or block automated requests at any time. The APKPure fast path needs a numeric versionCode from Morphe; without one the helper falls back to a WebView page that may show ads or a verification challenge. Many state laws: Appteka is limited to SnapTube by default and is flagged hazardous because it hosts modded APKs, so enabling it for other apps is not recommended.

Release APKs are currently signed with the Android debug key for sideloading, not a release keystore. The code is MIT-licensed. There are no analytics or accounts, and the diagnostic log stays in app-specific storage unless the user taps Share log.

HotRepo's take

On the Java new-project list for 2026-11-05, the repository recorded 49 new stars over the roughly 24-hour window ending 2026-11-05T14:45Z, reaching 156 stars. HotRepo has no all-language daily rank recorded, so this is a single new-project snapshot rather than evidence of sustained traction. What stands out technically is the narrow scope: implementing one intent contract with per-source parsers and a WebView fallback, while leaving installation and signature checks to Morphe. The debug-key signing and the reliance on third-party site markup are the parts most likely to draw scrutiny from users comparing builds.
