GitHub Star History: star growth chart for any repo
Try:
Example: star history of cloudflare/security-audit-skill
How it works
- Where does the data come from?
- From GitHub's star history API. Each point on the line is the repo's total stars on that day; the last point is its current count.
- What are the gold sections?
- Days the repo was on the all-languages GitHub Trending daily list.
- How often does it update?
- A repo's first chart takes a few seconds to fetch, no sign-in needed. After that, it updates automatically when viewed more than 24 hours after the last update.
- Where do I get the Trending badge?
- Repos that have ranked on the all-languages GitHub Trending daily list have a Trending shield next to the title on their HotRepo review page. Click it to pick a style and copy the README code. The badge shows the best rank and the most recent day it got there; records start Oct 24, 2026.
- What do the numbers at the top mean?
- The repo's current star count. With a time range selected, it also shows the stars gained in that range.
- Where does the chart link to?
- The repo's page on HotRepo: its review if it has one; otherwise its star history and trending record, where signed-in users can request a review.
