Productivity & UtilitiesA DeepSeek Harness plugin that turns one-line ideas into scripts, covers, images, and storyboards for self-media creators.
What it is
Media Desk is a community plugin for DeepSeek Harness that adds a sidebar workspace for solo content creators. It covers the full loop from capturing an idea to drafting a spoken script and title, generating a cover, images and a six-panel storyboard, placing the finished piece on a publishing calendar, and reviewing performance afterwards. The workspace has five pages — Inspirations, Content, Schedule, Review and Style — and runs in both the desktop and web builds of DeepSeek Harness. English is available as a UI and output language.
The plugin bundles no model keys. Scripts use whichever model is already configured in DeepSeek Harness; image generation calls any OpenAI-compatible POST {base}/images/generations endpoint whose key you enter in plugin settings. Importing your own public account data is optional and goes through a third-party service, Monid, billed per call.
Getting started
Requirements: DeepSeek Harness 0.2.1-rc.5 or later within the 0.2.x line; the author reports testing on 0.2.2-rc.1 for desktop and web.
-
Install from the package name. In the desktop app, open Plugins → Add Plugin, enter
dsh-media-desk, and install. From a terminal, fully quit the desktop app first:dsh plugin --profile desktop add dsh-media-deskFor the web build use
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-media-deskand restartdsh web. Ifdshis not on your PATH, enable it from the desktop menu first. -
Open the sidebar entry “自媒体工作台” (Media Desk). The first launch shows sample data; clear it from the top-right when you are ready to start with your own ideas.
-
Add an image-generation API key in settings if you want generated covers and illustrations, and use “试画一张” to confirm the endpoint works. Without a key, scripts and storyboard text are still produced and covers fall back to text-only. For offline installs, download the
dsh-media-desk-*.tgzfrom Releases and add it asfile:$PWD/dsh-media-desk-<version>.tgz.
Constraints
- No direct publishing. There is no unified cross-platform publishing API, so you copy the script or save a folder and post manually. Saved output goes to
~/Documents/自媒体工作台/. - Local-only storage. Content lives in
~/.dsh/media-desk/, shared by the desktop and web builds, with no cloud sync or account system; uninstalling the plugin does not remove it. API keys sit in the localsettings.jsonwith mode 600 and are not sent to the text model. - Account import limits. Only your own public accounts are supported, via Monid; links are sent to Monid and its data providers. Play counts are unavailable for Xiaohongshu and Douyin, Xiaohongshu body text is truncated to roughly 100 characters, and WeChat, Channels and YouTube cannot be imported at all. Per-call pricing applies (about $0.02 per Xiaohongshu account, under $0.01 for several other platforms).
- Model dependency. Script quality depends on the model configured in DeepSeek Harness; the project is a community plugin, not an official DeepSeek product, and is MIT licensed.
HotRepo's take
The project appeared on HotRepo's new-project snapshot on 2026-11-05 with 119 stars and a reported 18 stars gained across the observed window, while hourly samples between 05:45 and 13:45 UTC rose from 101 to 119. That is early traction only — one day of data with no daily-rank record — and says nothing about long-term adoption. What is notable technically is the scope: it covers ideation, drafting, image generation, scheduling and review in one plugin surface rather than a single prompt wrapper, and the development section documents mock model and mock Monid scripts for testing without spending API credits.
