GitHub Trending badge and star history chart for your README
Try:
How it works
- What does the badge show?
- The repo's best rank on the all-languages GitHub Trending daily list, and the most recent day it got there. Only finished days count, starting Oct 24, 2026. Without a recorded rank it shows “No GitHub Trending record yet”.
- Where does the data come from?
- From GitHub's star history API. Each point on the line is the repo's total stars on that day; the last point is its current count.
- How often does it update?
- Generating a chart the first time requires signing in and takes a few seconds. After that, it updates automatically when viewed more than 24 hours after the last update.
- What are the gold sections?
- Days the repo was on the all-languages GitHub Trending daily list.
- What do the numbers at the top mean?
- The repo's current star count. With a time range selected, it also shows the stars gained in that range.
- What if HotRepo can't reach GitHub?
- It shows the last data fetched successfully, with the update date in the bottom corner.
- Where do the badge and chart link to?
- The repo's page on HotRepo: its review if it has one; otherwise its star history and trending record, where signed-in users can request a review.
