What it is

This repository is a plugin marketplace that brings Spotify Portal into coding-agent environments: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and pi. It wraps the Portal CLI (@spotify/portal-cli) so the agent can run focused workflows against your software catalog rather than you typing CLI commands yourself.

The available workflows cover setup, read-only readiness diagnostics, natural-language catalog and documentation search, service briefings with ownership and health details, and discovery/preview/invocation of Portal actions with dry-run and confirmation safeguards. It also includes Fleetshift workflows to create a shift from a goal, run and monitor it, inspect targets and PRs, troubleshoot failed jobs from status and logs, and open PRs for completed targets. A separate shunt plugin (Claude Code only for now) routes I/O-heavy agent work to AiKA worker models through the Portal action registry.

Getting started

For Claude Code, add the marketplace and install the plugin from a shell:

claude plugin marketplace add spotify/portal-ai-plugins
claude plugin install portal@portal
claude plugin install shunt@portal # optional

Start a new session and run /portal:setup to configure Portal CLI authentication. For Codex, run codex plugin marketplace add spotify/portal-ai-plugins, launch codex, open /plugins, install Spotify Portal, start a new task, and ask "Set up Spotify Portal for me." Cursor users register the repository in the team marketplace and install from Settings → Plugins. pi users run pi install git:github.com/spotify/portal-ai-plugins and then /skill:setup.

Setup checks that the CLI exposes the required auth, actions, owner, search, and service commands before proceeding. The plugin invokes the CLI as npx @spotify/portal-cli <command>.

Constraints

You need access to Spotify Portal and a coding-agent environment that supports plugin marketplaces. There is no standalone interface: the workflows are driven through the host agent and depend on the Portal CLI being reachable via npx. Installation paths and syntax differ per host, and shunt is limited to Claude Code for now.

Actions that change state (invoking Portal actions, running shifts, opening PRs) come with help, dry-run previews, and confirmation steps; the diagnostic and shift-check workflows are read-only. The repository is Apache-2.0 licensed.

HotRepo's take

On HotRepo's TypeScript weekly list for 2026-11-02, the project recorded 2,820 stars and 222 forks, with 297 stars added that week and a best position of 16. That single weekly snapshot is the extent of the recorded data here, so it supports only the fact that the project drew attention in that period, not a trend. For readers, the interesting angle is distribution rather than feature novelty: an official vendor plugin packaging internal Portal operations into the plugin formats of several different coding agents at once.
