rerun-build/rerun
AI EngineeringSelf-hostable platform where teams configure AI coworkers with tools, memory, schedules and approval gates.
What it is
Rerun is an open-source, self-hostable application for building a team of AI "coworkers". You describe the work in plain language, and a central agent called the Foreman plans the team, creates coworkers and coordinates them. Each coworker has a role, its own memory and skills, and its own computer with a browser and screen that a person can watch or take over.
Coworkers connect to your tools (Gmail, Slack, Notion, GitHub, Stripe and others, plus any MCP server or Composio app) and use the model provider you configure, such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini or OpenRouter, with an API key or an existing subscription. Actions that send, pay or delete require your approval. Scheduled and webhook-triggered runs let work happen unattended.
The source is a pnpm monorepo: a Next.js app in apps/ui, an engine in apps/engine for each workspace, Supabase for Postgres, auth, storage and realtime, and Docker for the runtime. The project targets teams that want agent workflows on their own infrastructure rather than a hosted SaaS.
Quick start
The manual self-host path requires Docker, Node.js 22, and a Supabase project (a free one is enough). Clone the repository, then copy and fill the environment file:
git clone https://github.com/rerun-build/rerun.git && cd rerun
cp .env.example .env # fill Supabase URL and keys, and an OpenRouter key
node scripts/self-host-check.mjs
npx supabase link --project-ref <your-project-ref> && npx supabase db push --include-seed
docker compose up -d --build
After the containers build, open http://localhost:3000 and start with the Foreman. The README also offers an AI-assisted install path: paste a prompt into Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, or open the Claude/ChatGPT link, and the assistant follows the installer guide at INSTALL.md. The self-hosting guide covers Supabase on your own machine, attaching coworker servers, HTTPS and updates.
Constraints
- Docker, Node.js 22 and a Supabase project are required for a manual install; a model provider key or subscription is also needed.
- Self-hosting is documented but not supported: issues without logs or reproduction steps are closed with a link to the guide.
- The open-source edition lacks the template library, ready-made per-workspace computers, included model credit, premium integrations such as LinkedIn and WhatsApp, and support that Rerun Cloud provides; you supply models and host the coworker machines yourself.
- The project is AGPL-3.0: if you host it for others, your changes must be published under the same license. The name and logo are covered by a separate trademark policy.
HotRepo's take
The repository recorded 159 stars and 13 forks on the 2026-11-02 new-projects list, gaining 51 stars and 6 forks in a window of about two hours. That is the only HotRepo snapshot so far and there is no GitHub daily rank on record, so it supports the fact of a fast early pickup, not a trend. The README is unusually complete for a young project: architecture, a manual install path, a hosted-vs-open-source comparison, and an explicit statement that self-hosting is not supported. The main open question for adopters is how much of the multi-agent orchestration works reliably outside the vendor's cloud, since that is where the premium features live.
