What it does

DS Harness Remote is a plugin for DeepSeek Harness Desktop that lets other devices reach the Harness instance running on your work computer. The host keeps its workspaces, tools, and project setup; clients just open another window into that environment. Besides DSH, it can expose Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, Hermes, and other ACP-capable agent workspaces from the same host.

Clients include the DSH Desktop plugin, a web app, Android, DSH Go, and a TestFlight iOS beta. The host opens only outbound connections, so no public port or port forwarding is needed. Paths are negotiated as LAN → P2P → TURN → Relay, and traffic is end-to-end encrypted with Noise_IK_25519_ChaChaPoly_SHA256; the relay forwards ciphertext without storing session plaintext or device private keys.

Quick start

  1. In DeepSeek Harness Desktop, open Extensions / Plugin management, install from npm using ds-harness-remote@0.6.2, then restart. The dsh launcher also supports it: dsh plugin --profile desktop add -w ds-harness-remote@0.6.2.
  2. Open Remote in the Harness sidebar and sign in with Zhihu, GitHub, Google, or an account. New account registration needs an invitation code from the repository author.
  3. On another device, either install the same plugin and sign in, or use Remote Web, Android, or DSH Go without installing the plugin.
  4. Pick an online host, then select an existing workspace or browse remote directories to open one.

The hosted server at dsh.r2049.cn is used by default. For self-hosting, the minimal server covers P2P coordination and relay but does not reproduce the full hosted Remote Web experience.

Constraints

  • Compatibility baseline is dsh-v0.2.1-rc.5, with limited support for 0.2.0 rc.2 / rc.1; older hosts without capability discovery are rejected. See the compatibility guide.
  • Registration requires an invitation code; the iOS app is TestFlight-only and not publicly released.
  • The Linux installer requires root because it sets up a systemd service; the host, agent tools, and remote terminals then run as root.
  • Interactive terminals run as the host user and are independent of agent approval prompts. Remote Tools injection is on by default and can be disabled in settings.
  • ACP workspace support is experimental; for Claude and Hermes, image input and direct Files/Terminal access are unavailable.
  • The plugin is MIT-licensed, but the repository itself declares no license; this is an independent community project, not an official DeepSeek product.

HotRepo's take

The project appeared on the TypeScript daily list on 2026-11-03 at third place with 1,407 stars and 125 forks, gaining 135 stars that day. Those numbers describe the plugin ecosystem around DeepSeek Harness rather than the plugin alone. The repository's distinguishing choice is architectural: no public listening port, a four-stage transport fallback, and relay-only ciphertext handling, paired with a fairly detailed ACP integration surface. Readers weighing it should check the pinned Harness baseline and the self-hosting server's reduced feature set against their setup.
