A Claude skill that audits AI-looking web UIs and redesigns them pass by pass.

unslop is a skill for Claude that helps turn AI-generated-looking interfaces into more deliberate designs. Its audience is people who build or vibe-code web screens and want a structured critique and repair pass without starting a full redesign from scratch.

What it actually does

The skill begins with an audit: it lists visual "slop" signs such as purple gradients, glows, emoji labels, shouty copy and uneven spacing, and notes where each appears. It then proposes a direction based on the product itself, before editing anything, so the user can steer early. Only after that does it make changes in ordered passes: spacing, color, icons, copy, type, layout, details, visuals and motion. If the screen is already good, it says so and suggests small refinements instead of redesigning it.

It is described as working regardless of how the screen is built, including Next.js, React, Vue, Svelte, Tailwind, or plain HTML and CSS, and applies to dashboards, apps and landing pages. It can also work from a live URL when all the user has is a link. The repository provides two vibecoded example screens to try it on example screens.

How to use it

The documented path is Claude Code. Users copy the skill into ~/.claude/skills/ for all projects, or into .claude/skills/ for a single project, then invoke /unslop with a target, or ask in natural language and let Claude pick up the skill. See the setup instructions for the exact steps.

Conditions and side paths

Some capabilities are optional rather than part of the core audit-and-fix flow:

  • Visual generation: when a hero needs an image or scene, the skill can use an image service such as fal, Replicate, OpenAI images or Higgsfield. If none is connected, it can offer to connect one as an MCP server. It shows the prompt and asks before every paid generation. Dashboards and apps rarely need this.
  • Story video: producing a square, under-10-second video of the screen unslopping itself requires Playwright and ffmpeg. This is a separate output from the design changes.
  • No guarantee of no edits: the audit and direction come first, but the tool still modifies files after that; it is not a read-only reviewer unless the user stops it.
