Overview

This repository provides Agent Skills — reusable instruction packages in the Agent Skills format — for Google products and technologies, with the bulk of the catalog covering Google Cloud. Each skill is a Markdown bundle targeting one topic: IAM and onboarding recipes, GKE cluster creation and troubleshooting, BigQuery optimization, Cloud Run and Firebase basics, Gemini and Agent Platform APIs, SecOps investigation, and Google Ads or Analytics APIs. The catalog is organized by category in the README, so clients or developers configuring an agent for Google Cloud work can pick only the skills relevant to their stack.

The intended audience is people using an agent harness (Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity CLI, or any client supporting the skills format) who want the agent to follow Google-specific procedures rather than improvise them. The repository also bundles Google product plugins that combine skills with MCP servers for specific harnesses.

Quick start

You need Node.js so that npx is available; if it is not, install Node.js from the official download page.

Run the installer from your project or preferred scope:

npx skills add google/skills

When prompted, choose specific skills or all skills, select the target agents to configure, and pick project or global installation scope. Restart or reload your agent so it picks up the new skill files.

To refresh installed skills later:

npx skills update

The update command offers to remove obsolete skills as well. For plugin-based harnesses, the README lists separate commands, e.g. claude plugin marketplace add google/skills followed by claude plugin install <plugin>@google-plugins, or the /plugins browser in Codex.

Usage constraints

  • Skills are instructions for an agent, not standalone software; they only take effect inside a harness that reads the skills format.
  • Many skills assume access to a Google Cloud project and appropriate credentials, and some describe billable actions such as deployments, cluster creation or monitoring.
  • The installer runs through Node/npm tooling; environments without Node need an alternative plugin path or manual copying.
  • The repository's own skills are Apache-2.0 licensed and may be copied, modified and redistributed; additional skill sets live in separate Google repositories such as Android, Flutter, Dart, Maps and ADK.

HotRepo's take

The repo entered the all-language GitHub daily ranking at position 9 on 2026-11-05, with 22085 stars at that snapshot. Earlier daily records show sustained attention in August 2026 — 305 to 532 stars gained per day across 7–10 August — before quieter days in early October (39–78 stars per day). A discussion thread from 2026-08-06 noted the repository reaching 90 skills, matching the broad category coverage described in the README. A June 2026 comment argued that some instructions exist because Gemini models need explicit guidance for coding tasks; that is one user's opinion in a low-traffic thread, and it does not change what the repository ships. The main practical variable for adopters is not star count but how much of the catalog applies to their actual Google Cloud or Google API workload.
