Developer ToolsA collection of Claude Code skills for video, coding, learning, design and planning tasks.
Project Overview
simcraft is a collection of Claude Code skills, where each skill is a folder containing a SKILL.md that teaches the agent a method, the judgement calls involved, and the working scripts for one kind of work. Skills are grouped into Video, Engineering, Learning, Design and Planning. Requests that match a skill load it automatically, and skill-router can chain two or three skills so the output of one feeds the next (skill-router).
Representative skills include:
- Video: perspective-illusion for illustrated 3D loops, code-loop for seamless three.js/GLSL renders, rough-cut for first cuts from raw footage and clean-audio for measured voice cleanup.
- Engineering: codebase-map for tracing an unfamiliar repo end to end, bisect-anything for shrinking regressions, flaky-test-killer for fixing flaky tests without retries and benchmark-honestly for benchmarks with confidence intervals.
- Learning and Design: paper-to-runnable, system-design-from-scratch, image-gen and brand-kit.
Quick Start
Prerequisites: Python 3.9+, Node 18+, and ffmpeg on your PATH (or set FFMPEG to its location). The install steps from the README (install steps):
git clone https://github.com/dotslashsimran/simcraft ~/simcraft
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills
for s in ~/simcraft/skills/*/*/; do ln -s "${s%/}" ~/.claude/skills/; done
cd ~/simcraft && npm i
Claude Code looks one folder deep, so the loop links every skill into ~/.claude/skills; to install a single skill, link only that folder. Some skills have a one-time setup script, such as setup.sh for Whisper in rough-cut; each SKILL.md says so at the top. After linking, matching requests load the relevant skill automatically, and skill-router composes chains such as reverse-engineer-video → code-loop or benchmark-honestly → bisect-anything.
Constraints
- Most scripts use only the Python standard library, but browser-driving and video-rendering skills need Node 18+, and video/audio skills depend on ffmpeg.
- Only
image-genneeds API keys (Gemini or OpenAI), read from the environment or~/.config/simcraft/keys.env; keys should not be committed to the repo (image-gen). - Skills are installed by symlink rather than packaged, so the clone must stay at the path used during linking.
- No license is declared in the repository metadata; check before redistributing or incorporating the skills.
HotRepo's take
On 2026-11-08 simcraft appeared on the new-project list with 114 stars and 10 forks, gaining 14 stars and 1 fork in the measured one-hour window. That is the only recorded snapshot, so it shows a short burst of attention rather than a trend. The project's practical value lies in the breadth and specificity of its skills — covering video rendering, repo investigation and benchmark methodology with real scripts rather than prompts alone — which sets it apart from prompt collections that stop at instructions.
