cobusgreyling/grok-bot-templates
AI EngineeringA catalog of paste-ready Grok Bot profiles, each specifying job, boundaries, skills, routines, and team handoffs.
What this is
This repository packages operating contracts for Grok Bot, xAI's durable AI teammate. Each contract (a PROFILE.md) defines a bot's job, what it must never do, which skill it applies, when a routine runs, and how it hands off to teammates. The catalog currently advertises 49 templates across 10 teams, 47 skills, and 8 routines, spanning engineering (PR Reviewer, Bug Reproduction), ops (Chief of Staff), personal (Inbox Triage), and research (Research Desk).
The project is not affiliated with xAI; the templates are text you paste into your own Grok Bot account. Browsing the template catalog is the fastest way to see what is offered.
Quick start
No clone or Node install is required for the main path.
- In Grok Bot, choose New → Create new agent and name it Setup.
- Send the raw START.md URL to that bot. Setup fetches each bot's
PROFILE.md; it does not invent prompts. - Pick a team, for example Eng (Bug Reproduction + Issue Drafter + PR Reviewer).
- Connect the plugins the profile lists and stay at autonomy level L1 (drafts only) for the first week.
Alternatively, copy one raw profile directly into Bot actions → Edit Profile, connect the named plugins, and send a first task. Do not enable a routine until two runs look right. See the quickstart and the jobs index for more entry points.
CLI and scoring
An optional CLI can list templates, print paste-ready profiles, and run the Bot Ready score:
npx --yes github:cobusgreyling/grok-bot-templates list
npx --yes github:cobusgreyling/grok-bot-templates init pr-reviewer --print
npx --yes github:cobusgreyling/grok-bot-templates score pr-reviewer --badge
The score totals 100 points across job, sources, never-list, deliverable, first task, skill, no-data handling, autonomy, example, routine discipline, share-safety, and working style. Templates under 80 on the stable track fail CI. The scoped npm package name is not yet published; the GitHub npx form works today.
Constraints
- Requires a Grok Bot account. The profiles are instructions for that product; they have no standalone runtime.
- Autonomy ladder. L0 observes, L1 drafts (the documented default), L2 performs named writes after in-chat approval, L3 adds scheduled routines. The project recommends a report-only first week.
- Shared context. Share links are public and plugins can be shared across a team, so profiles are written to be share-safe and are scanned in CI.

HotRepo's take
On 7 November 2026 the repository recorded its best JavaScript daily-list position of 9, gaining 5 stars that day (102 stars, 23 forks overall). That is a single snapshot, not enough to establish a trend. What it shows is that the paste-a-URL workflow and the built-in scoring are legible enough to be picked up quickly; the value of the catalog depends on how well individual profiles perform inside Grok Bot, and only a handful are highlighted for review here.
