What it does

This repository is a DeepSeek Harness (DSH) plugin that exposes the local craft-anything-cli as MCP tools under the mcp__craft__* namespace. Craft Anything is the upstream Rust reverse-engineering engine that studies how a website, desktop app, mobile app, game, firmware or file format works, records evidence, and can hand the findings to a coding agent for reconstruction . This repo is only the DSH integration layer; it does not include or modify upstream code and states no affiliation with ArtCraft/Storytold.

The plugin adds four tools (craft_status, craft_cli, craft_install, craft_mode), a status page in the DSH sidebar, a mode dropdown in the composer, and a SHA256-verified CLI installer . A clean-room/deep switch determines which upstream tools are visible: clean mode allows only external observation, while deep mode unlocks tools that read target internals.

Quick start

Prerequisites: DSH desktop 0.2.1-rc.2 or newer. The host-side functionality works from 0.2.1-rc.2, while the sidebar, status page and composer switch were verified on 0.2.1-rc.5; older builds simply omit those UI pieces . No separate Node install is needed because the launcher runs on DSH's bundled Node.

Install a tagged version or track main:

dsh plugin --profile desktop add github:Fanqi89/dsh-craft-anything#v0.1.1
dsh plugin --profile desktop add github:Fanqi89/dsh-craft-anything

Then enable Craft Anything on the DSH plugins page and run the CLI installer and status check:

craft_install
craft_status

craft_install downloads the official release into ~/.dsh/plugins-data/craft-anything/<version>/, checks it against SHA256SUMS.txt before extraction, and restarts the MCP bridge . To research a target in the default clean-room mode, use the upstream tools:

mcp__craft__core_target_open   { "path": "C:\\Windows\\System32\\where.exe" }
mcp__craft__core_target_triage
mcp__craft__core_evidence_show { "detail": "summary" }
mcp__craft__core_report_write  { "format": "markdown" }

Switch to deep mode via the composer dropdown, craft_mode { "mode": "deep" }, or a single --deep argument .

Constraints and known limitations

  • Mode switching is global and restarts the MCP service, so in-flight MCP calls fail and the tool list resyncs after 1–2 seconds.
  • Deep mode and --all-tools (321 tools) add a large JSON schema to every request; only Essentials (30 tools) are exposed by default .
  • rebuild needs a coding agent such as Claude Code or an API key; research and evidence tools work without one.
  • Platform verification: Windows is fully tested; macOS adaptation (Electron-as-Node, universal CLI zip, SIGKILL fallback) is written up but not tested on real hardware; Linux is best effort .
  • Only use it on software you own or are permitted to inspect; upstream does not bypass DRM, logins or anti-cheat.
  • License is MIT for this repo; upstream is MIT OR Apache-2.0 .

HotRepo's take

HotRepo recorded the project on the JavaScript new-list for 2026-11-07 with 107 stars and 23 forks, a net gain of 6 stars and 1 fork in the observed hour-long window. With no daily all-language rank and only two star samples, that single snapshot cannot support any trend claim. What the record does show is that a niche DSH integration for an upstream reverse-engineering engine drew enough attention to appear on the new list; the usefulness case rests on whether you already run DSH and want Craft Anything's tools inside it.
