Developer ToolsA Claude Code skill that audits websites for technical SEO, structured data, and AI-search readiness.
Claude SEO is a free, MIT-licensed plugin for Claude Code that turns a URL into a prioritised SEO action plan. It is aimed at SEO consultants, in-house teams and agencies who already work inside Claude Code and want repeatable audits rather than another dashboard. The project bundles 26 sub-skills and 19 specialist agents, each tagged with a Claude model and a /seo command project repository.
What an audit produces
You give it a site, and it detects the business type (SaaS, local, e-commerce, publisher or agency), fans out up to 17 agents in parallel, and returns findings scored and sorted by impact. Each recommendation is meant to state its basis, dependencies and how to verify the fix; reports are saved as Markdown, with a PDF path through the Google command README. Checks span crawlability and indexing, Core Web Vitals, E-E-A-T, Schema.org markup, local/e-commerce/international SEO, backlinks, and AI-search readiness. seo geo scores how quotable pages are for AI answers, while seo agentic looks at AI-agent access signals such as llms.txt and WebMCP README.
The distinguishing mechanism is the division of work: judgment-heavy agents (content, GEO, topic clustering, SXO, drift) run on Opus, the rest on Sonnet, and you can edit models per agent file. /seo drift stores SQLite snapshots so you can compare a site over time. JavaScript-heavy pages are rendered in a headless browser automatically README.
Requirements and limits
Every path needs Claude Code 1.0.33 or newer and Python 3.11–3.14; /seo setup builds an isolated Python environment and headless browser, and /seo doctor checks it without changing the system README. The plugin route adds the marketplace and installs the plugin; manual installs use a shell script on macOS/Linux or PowerShell on Windows, and the README deliberately prefers git clone over piping remote code because Claude Code flags that as a supply-chain risk README.
No API keys are required. Without Google API keys, Core Web Vitals are lab estimates and indexing is inferred from the page, so those results should not be read as field data. Content revealed only after scrolling or clicking can produce noisy findings README. A full audit relies more on the Claude plan because of the Opus agents README.
Data and optional extensions
Since it runs inside Claude Code, the pages and data being analysed go to Anthropic's model; reports stay as local files, and no SEO service sees them unless you connect an extension or API README. Nine optional extensions — SE Ranking, Profound, Bing Webmaster, Unlighthouse and others — require your own accounts, but the tool is documented as fully functional without them README. The public version is MIT licensed; a private build with early feature access is offered to AI Marketing Hub Pro members README.
